Ian Mackinnon

Since May 2025 I have been the sole AI engineer at a mission-driven health and wellness company, where I’ve shipped 11 AI builds (including a production RAG chatbot for a 10,000-member community).

Before that I did materials science research at two universities, worked in composites R&D, ran a program of 19 aerospace projects across 8 organizations, and founded three companies. I also run independent research on how language models work and how to evaluate them, with predictions committed to git before each run.
